"Kwadwo Tettey is from Ghana but grew up in Gaborone, Botswana. During his senior year in high school, he was encouraged by one of his teachers to pursue his college degree in the USA. He eventually attended the Johns Hopkins University and graduated in 2008 with a B.S and M.S.E in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering along with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management.
As an undergrad, he was involved in tutoring and also took on a role as a Teaching Assistant. In addition to this, he took part in HIV/AIDS research abroad. During this time, the reality of this disease impacted him and this motivated him to be at the forefront of scientific research in Africa. Through this teaching and research experience, Kwadwo decided to pursue his PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
While an undergrad, Kwadwo served as a Resident Advisor for two years. This rewarding experience has motivated him to serve as a GA in Du Bois house. He hopes to engage his residents on the first floor in all house activities and would like to share his culture with all residents.
In his free time, Kwadwo enjoys playing sports, particularly soccer and squash. In addition to this, he enjoys visiting and exploring new places in Philly and all over the world."
