FLAS Announcement

FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND AREA STUDIES (FLAS) FELLOWSHIPS: APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

The Middle East Center at the University of Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for US Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for Summer 2019 and Academic Year 2019-2020.

 

Fellowships are available for both undergraduate and graduate students to study one of six Middle Eastern languages:

Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Kurdish, Tajik, Turkish

 

Successful candidates will receive up to $18,000 in tuition and $15,000 in stipend (graduates) or up to $10,000 tuition and $5,000 stipend (undergraduates) for the academic year, or $5,000 tuition and $2,500 stipend for summer study (both graduates and undergraduates).

FLAS fellowships can be used to study anywhere in the United States or around the world (with prior approval).
