Beginning in 2016, Women of Color from Penn came together with Dr. Robin C. Stevens, Assistant Professor of Nursing, and       Mr. Stone from Powell Elementary School, to create a one-to-one mentoring program for African American elementary school girls in West Philly.

In light of the broadcasted assaults on black bodies; girls and boys, men and women, across the United States, we are excited to create a space that supports, builds, and replenishes the spirit , for both mentors and mentees. HERstory is not a tutoring program. Instead, our students are using the mentorship model to design programming that helps both mentors and mentees find their collective #blackgirlmagic.

We are pleased to anounce that HERstory is expanding to boys!

With HERstory and now HIStory, Penn is supporting young African American student leaders as they strengthen black girls and boys in Philadelphia.
