Proud Boston native Sandy Lopes is a poet, mentor, and an aspiring Social Worker. She is a first year student at the School of Social Policy and Practice as a candidate for a Masters in Social Work. She hopes to specialize in criminology and work in juvenile dentention centers. She is a strong believer in the Power of Young People and strives to create opportunities and build confidence in the lives of youth. 

Sandy is a first generation college graduate and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA in 2015. Shortly after graduating, Sandy dedicated two years of her life to service as an AmeriCorps member at City Year Boston, an educational non-profit organization that works closely with Boston Public School students to ensure they do not fall through the cracks of a flawed public education system. 

She is a lover of the arts, an avid food and music junkie, has a passion for international traveling, and anything beach related. She is obsessed with Lauryn Hill and Chance the Rapper and when she's feeling a little "spicy" she channels Cardi B.
