Grupo Quisqueyano is proud to announce that we will have our Second Annual Mariposa (Butterfly) Week from November 13th-15th, 2018 in honor of the Hermanas Mirabal. For those who are not familiar with Dominican history, the hermanas were leaders in the opposition movement against the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo. The women were assassinated on November 25, 1960, which is today known as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Their deaths turned the sisters into symbols of both political and feminist resistance. Because three hermanas lost their lives to the fight, this will be a three day series of events.
